The $787 billion stimulus package President Barack Obama signed into legislation in February includes $8 billion for High-Speed Rail. California is expected to receive about $2 billion of that allocation. Combined with the bond measure passed by the state's voters in November 2008, the money will jump start construction of the project that will link San Diego and Los Angeles to San Francisco and, ultimately, Sacramento.
