Environmental Reform
In today’s economic climate, California needs a common sense and balanced approach to move forward in an environmentally and economically sound manner. Our state’s limited financial resources make it necessary to use tax dollars wisely and spend them where it makes sense.
That is why we must reform our state’s current regulatory environment. California has enacted far-reaching regulations—surpassing in some cases what the Federal government requires—that carry a hefty price tag for Californians. In some cases, such regulations have not yielded environmental benefits.
Costly regulations that do not produce benefits for the public have negative consequences. They consume taxpayer dollars needed for public infrastructure projects such as fixing roads and bridges, delay transportation projects, eliminate much-needed jobs, and hurt an already ailing economy. The public loses in the end by way of worsened road conditions, increased safety issues and high vehicle maintenance costs.
The California Alliance for Jobs advises decision-makers on critical environmental policy issues and keeps members informed on key concerns and decisions coming before government agencies, boards and commissions. We build coalitions, organize grassroots campaigns and mobilize our members around environmental policies and issues affecting the heavy construction industry.
