The voters of California spoke loudly and clearly last November. By approving Propositions 1A, 1B, 1C, 1D & 1E - dubbed "the 1's" - by resounding margins, Californians sent a strong message that rebuilding our aging infrastructure is a critical priority that can no longer be neglected. After this comprehensive, bi-partisan plan was put on the ballot by the legislature and Governor, the California Alliance for Jobs played a central role in organizing the campaign to pass "the 1's." Jim Earp, president of the Alliance served as chairman of the The Rebuild California, Yes on 1A-1E campaign. After this hard-fought campaign led by the Alliance, voters ultimately approved all five measures, including:
"The 1's" will also generate 230,000 new private and public sector jobs over the next ten years and produce billions of dollars each year in new opportunities for private sector contractors, builders and their employees. The Alliance would like to recognize the leadership of Senate President Don Perata, Governor Schwarzenegger, Speaker Fabian Núñez, and the broad coalition of business, labor, teachers, contractors, police and fire, taxpayers, seniors and hundreds of others who worked tirelessly to make this historic investment a reality. In the end, it is the voters of California who are to be commended for approving this package to start the long-overdue job of Rebuilding California.
