The California Alliance for Jobs works hard to ensure that our transportation system works the way it's supposed to, is safe for drivers, and is adequately funded. We support a wide range of public investment, including funding for bus, rail and other public modes.

Our roads, however, will remain the backbone of our transportation network. And since our road and highway system receives by far the most use and is by far most critical to the growth of our economy, our mobility as individuals and our security as a state and nation, it should receive funding priority over other modes. Road and highway investment has been proven to reduce congestion growth, decrease pollution, save time and protect lives.

The Alliance promotes transportation investment on several fronts. Among them:

  • We participate in regional transportation planning in the Bay Area and Sacramento and hold seats on key committees that advise decision-makers.
  • We provide written and oral testimony and organize grassroots support for transportation projects and programs.
  • We have held leadership roles in successful efforts to pass transportation ballot measures at both the county and state levels.
  • We organize and manage business, labor and citizen coalitions formed around transportation issues.
  • We provide assistance for organizations also working to secure transportation funding.
  • We inform the public about our state's transportation needs through our radio campaign and media relations program.
  • We circulate and publicize important transportation research and reports.
